An accelerated design-build project delivering 20,000 sq. ft. of new and renovated space, expanded production capacity and critical facility infrastructure.

Ontario Truss and Wall (OTW) has manufactured wood building components in Foxboro, Ontario, for more than 40 years. The company produces engineered roof trusses, prefabricated wall panels and other wood products supporting residential, commercial and agricultural construction throughout the province.

To support its continued growth, Ducon Contractors Ltd. was retained to deliver a complex, three-phase design build expansion at OTW’s facility at 732 Ashley Street.

Supporting Ontario Manufacturing

In July 2026, the Government of Ontario announced an investment of more than $3.3 million toward OTW’s broader, $11-million-plus expansion and modernization program.

The investment will help OTW introduce advanced manufacturing equipment and increase production capacity by nearly 70 per cent. The project is expected to create 13 new jobs, retain 50 existing positions and support approximately 100 additional jobs throughout the region.

The announcement recognizes OTW’s importance to Ontario’s construction supply chain and its role in increasing the availability of locally manufactured wood building products.

An Integrated Design-Build Approach

Ducon managed the full project lifecycle, coordinating design, approvals, permitting and construction through a single, integrated delivery process.

The project brought together specialized engineering consultants from Ottawa and Toronto, along with local engineering firms in Belleville. Ducon led the coordination required to secure site plan approvals, building permits and complex municipal sign offs associated with the expansion’s building, septic, utility and fire-protection systems.

By carefully sequencing design, permitting and construction, Ducon condensed a development process that would typically take more than 20 months into a coordinated 15 month on site construction program.

Phase 1 — Plant Expansion and Renovation

The first phase focused on increasing OTW’s manufacturing capacity and improving its existing production environment.

Ducon constructed a 15,000-sq.-ft. plant expansion designed to house dedicated production areas for engineered roof trusses and prefabricated wall panels. The new shop floor space was configured to accommodate modern manufacturing equipment, improve material movement and support more efficient production workflows.

This phase also included the renovation of approximately 1,000 sq. ft. within the existing plant, along with the construction of specialized utility areas, including a dedicated compressor room and supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

Phase 2 — New Office Addition

The second phase included the construction of 5,000 sq. ft. of new office space attached directly to the existing plant.

The purpose built office addition provides OTW with expanded administrative and operational space while maintaining a direct connection between its office and manufacturing teams. Together with the plant expansion and renovation, this phase brought the project to a total of 20,000 sq. ft. of new and renovated space.

Built for Continued Growth

The completed expansion provides Ontario Truss and Wall with the production space, office capacity and facility infrastructure needed to support its next stage of growth.

More than a building addition, the project represents a substantial investment in Ontario manufacturing, skilled employment and the province’s construction supply chain. The expanded facility will help OTW increase production, improve operational efficiency and deliver more Ontario-made structural building components to communities across the province.

The Ontario Truss and Wall expansion demonstrates Ducon Contractors’ ability to lead technically demanding, multi-phase industrial projects from early design and municipal approvals through permitting, construction and final delivery all within an accelerated schedule
